Please don't forget Afghanistan! Don‘t forget the human rights!
Statement from Afghan women's rights organizations on the German federal admission program in Afghanistan (Bundesaufnahmeprogramm Afghanistan, BAP)

"This admission program is the only hope for us Afghani women. You should not leave Afghani women alone in the fight against the gender apartheid of the Taliban regime and impose harsh sanctions on the Taliban."

We have heard that the German government wants to end the Federal Admission Program for Afghanistan prematurely and not continue to fund it. We hereby urgently appeal to the German government: Please do not stop this human rights and humanitarian program. Please continue all measures and provide the necessary financial resources. Because this program is currently the only hope for us women in Afghanistan to escape the misogynistic violence and injustice of the Taliban regime and to save our lives. So that we can work for the rights of Afghan people, especially women. And to continue our fight against the misogynist and extremist Taliban group to achieve all the rights of the Afghan people and to prosecute this criminal group.

Please pay serious attention to the terrible statistics of human and women's rights violations in the last three years, especially in 2024, before making a decision.

1) Afghan women are completely deprived of their basic and human rights. Women's work and education and even their voices are prohibited. They are not allowed to make their own decisions and they are not allowed to move in the public area without the accompaniment of a man responsible for them (Mahram).
Absolute gender apartheid has prevailed. The new regime is contantly creating fear and terror: imprisoning active women, protestors and freedom fighters, punishing female athletes and artists and even assassinating them. In Afghanistan, women are held en masse in house prisons, and activists and educated people supporting women's rights are tortured and assassinated in Taliban prisons. Women are even gang-raped by the Taliban.

2) According to the new statistics of Human Rights Watch, the suicide rate of young people, especially girls, increased by 60%.

3) The Media and the people do not have freedom of speech.

4) Forced marriage of women and girls by Taliban members and other men has increased significantly and domestic violence against women has increased dramatically due to economic poverty and extreme Taliban propaganda for misogynistic laws.

5) The genocide against the Hazara has intensified. Because of their ethnicity and religion, the Hazaras in Afghanistan are subjected to targeted suicide attacks and are openly oppressed and killed in groups by the Taliban.

6) Absolute poverty and unemployment have increased dramatically and more people than ever before are forced to flee Afghanistan illegally

7) The activities of terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda and dozens of other extremist groups increased as well as the drug trafficking.

8) There are insecurity and arbitrary arrests (targeted assassinations of former and current government employees and women)

These facts are available with all documents in human rights organizations and media.

Some 700 people in danger have already received admission through the „BAP“ and could leave Afghanistan and receive protection in Germany. But there are still many people, including many brave women in danger, who have not yet received admission or whose applications have not yet been processed and who are still in fear, danger and insecurity in Afghanistan. Please do not let us women down! Please speed up the admission and exit procedures so that at least the number of people targeted in the admission order can receive protection.

For a world without violence and a free Afghanistan and informed and active women, please support us in this difficult situation. Thank you for your cooperation.

With respect
